Our support for Wood Street Mission began with Mrs McCormack diving out of a plane! Since then, we have had a number of staff complete the Great Manchester Run, we have volunteered at the Back 2 School Quiz and we have spoken at a Books Forever event.
The most rewarding thing about supporting Wood Street Mission is knowing that we can help to relieve pressure on families. There is nothing like seeing stress lift off faces when parents realise they can get the support they need from Wood Street Mission.
We were aware of the wonderful work that Wood Street do, however, when Mrs McCormack first visited the offices to collect her skydive t-shirt, she was amazed at just how extensive the support can be. Mrs McCormack realised that we were in a position to support Wood Street further. Back at school, she spread the word and the idea for the Great Manchester Run team was born!
What would you say to someone who wanted to make a difference – either individually, or with their families, with their school, with their colleagues at work, with people in the community?
We would say to get out there and do it! By supporting Wood Street, no matter how small your contribution, you can feel satisfied knowing that you have made a difference to the lives of children in our local area. We would say that there is nothing in life more rewarding that contributing to the lives of young children and their families. Wood Street is an incredibly worthy cause. By supporting them, you can feel satisfied knowing that you have made a difference!
We have great ideas for the future! We hope to do a collection for toiletries and maybe we can convince someone to do something as adventurous as diving out of a plane again!
What have you done to support us? We would especially like to mention your taking part in the Great Manchester Run, volunteering at our Quiz and speaking at our events and on screen for us.
