As summer approaches, many of us start thinking about holidays, longer days, and time with family. But here at Wood Street Mission, June and July are some of our busiest months. 

With the new school year just around the corner, we’re already working hard behind the scenes to make sure thousands of children across Greater Manchester and Salford have everything they need to start school with confidence. 

That’s why now is the most important time to support Smart Start. 

Why Your Help Matters Right Now 

This year we are celebrating the 10th year of Smart Start providing children with new school uniforms, shoes, sports kits, coats, and stationery, the essentials that help them feel ready and included when they return to school. 

But preparing for September takes time, which is why support in June and July is so vital. These early months give us the chance to plan ahead, buy items in bulk, and respond to the growing number of referrals we’re receiving as more families face financial pressure. 

We’re already seeing rising demand. More families are turning to us, not because they want to, but because they have to. 

By acting now, you can help us meet that demand head-on, and make sure no child misses out because they don’t have the right clothes, shoes, or equipment to join in.
