Easter 2019

30th March 2019

Here at Wood Street we regularly review our projects and how we deliver them. With this in mind, this year we have taken the decision not to actively appeal for donations of Easter Eggs.

There are numerous food banks/projects that are providing a fantastic service to families on a regular daily basis, thus we feel that these organisations are now better placed to receive and re-distribute Easter eggs. This will ensure that struggling families are still able to access free Easter eggs whilst at the same time, it will enable us to concentrate on our core areas of work.

Because we are looking to increase the work that we do through our literacy campaigns, we have decided to request that new children’s books be donated to us, rather than eggs, as we feel that books will be of longer lasting benefit to those children receiving them.

We have received a small number of eggs already and we will look to distribute these through our Family Basics project. However we will be unable to make specific appointments for families to receive Easter eggs nor will we be able to accept worker/group referrals for Easter eggs this year or indeed in future years.

We hope that our families and our supporters understand that by taking this decision we will be able to ensure that our resources be concentrated, in those areas of our work that are increasingly in demand.
