Mission Vision and Values

Vision Statement

Where children can thrive in families free from poverty

Mission Statement

We will improve the life chances of children and families living in poverty by contributing to the creation of a society where all children have equal access to those items necessary for their wellbeing and education.

Seven Value Statements

1. Be unique– We have stayed small, local to Manchester and Salford and have specialised in the direct and practical sharing of family essentials like children’s clothes, toys, books and baby equipment for 150 years.

2. Be committed– Work hard, keep thinking, be optimistic and stay focused on children in low income families so we can make a positive difference.

3. Be fair in all our activities- Be mindful of the different experiences of our service users, co-workers, trustees, referrers and supporters and welcome and work with everyone in a way that we would like to be treated ourselves, with kindness and respect.

Encourage a friendly, good-humoured approach and challenge in fair and reasonable ways

4. Be honest– Encourage honest feedback by taking the time to listen, to share information simply and honestly and to speak up on behalf of children living in poverty.

5. Work together– Work across boundaries with our service users, co-workers, referrers and supporters, valuing each other’s ideas and believing that teamwork will produce the best results for the largest number of people.

Work with ethical partners

6. Continuously improve– Be open to change, be open to learning and grow our collective knowledge skills and experience so we keep on getting better.

7. Add value– Collect free donations of basic family essentials and get the best deals available to reach more children. Recycle and share anything we can’t use, where this is possible. Take every opportunity to add to children’s confidence & learning
