National law firm Foot Anstey has announced the recipients of its inaugural Community Fund, with Manchester-based charity Wood Street Mission selected to receive funding as part of the firm’s commitment to supporting social mobility and strengthening local communities.
A total of £14,500 has been distributed across 26 charities, with each organisation receiving at least £500 to support initiatives that expand opportunities, tackle barriers and improve wellbeing in local communities.
The Community Fund forms part of Foot Anstey’s wider Responsible Business programme, through which the firm has committed to investing 1% of its net profits into initiatives that deliver meaningful social impact.
Wood Street Mission, which supports children and families living on low incomes in Manchester and Salford with essential items including clothing, bedding, toys and educational resources, will benefit from the fund.
The charities were nominated by colleagues across the firm, with many sharing personal stories about the transformative role these organisations play in their communities.
Emily Nousios, Senior Associate, who nominated Wood Street Mission on behalf of the Manchester office of Foot Anstey, said:
“Wood Street Mission is an incredible charity doing vital, hands-on work to support children and families across Manchester and Salford. We’re proud to support their efforts through our Community Fund and to play a small part in helping them continue to provide essential items and opportunities to those who need them most.”
Kathryn Tighe, Fundraising Lead at Wood Street Mission, added:
“We’re incredibly grateful to be selected as a recipient of Foot Anstey’s Community Fund. Support like this helps us continue to provide practical support to families across Manchester and Salford, ensuring children have access to the essentials and educational resources they need to thrive.”
Bola Gibson, Executive Director for Responsible Business, added:
“We created the Community Fund to make sure our support reflects the causes that matter most to our colleagues and their communities. Thanks to their insight, we’re able to reach charities making a real difference on the ground and deliver impact where it’s most needed.”
The 26 organisations supported through the inaugural Community Fund reflect a diverse range of causes across the UK, including youth development, homelessness support, disability inclusion, food provision, mental health services and access to the arts.
