Dishoom Manchester has become one of our much‑loved Wood Street Heroes, supporting us as neighbours and proud members of the local community. As they shared, “Wood Street Mission came to our attention through being neighbours. Dishoom prides itself on the local community and the people in the surrounding areas.” Their support has grown year after year, and in 2025 they joined our Christmas Preview once again, “offering complimentary Chai to all guests who visited.” In previous years they’ve done the same, along with “supporting through various other events, such as Christmas Carols and vouchers for raffles etc.”

For Dishoom, the most rewarding part is the sense of connection. They told us, “Connecting with our neighbours and building that community feeling, seeing familiar faces at events and around the city… seeing the team show an interest in the work Wood Street are doing is really rewarding, knowing that you’re bringing attention to this wonderful cause.” Their team gets involved naturally, because as they put it, “The team love getting involved with Wood Street due to their fabulous cause and the fact we’re a part of the same community.”

When asked what they’d say to someone wanting to make a difference, especially when faced with the overwhelming reality of 93,000 children living in poverty across Manchester and Salford, their message is reassuring: “Don’t be daunted, the numbers are huge, but any amount of support is welcomed and necessary.” And to anyone thinking about supporting Wood Street Mission, they don’t hesitate: “Reach out! We’ve found the team at Wood Street to be really approachable, knowledgeable and kind… They’re a fantastic representation of their work.”

Looking ahead, Dishoom hopes to continue supporting their neighbours for many years to come, sharing, “I hope to continue working with our amazing neighbours for many years to come, whether supporting through major events or something as simple as a pop up at their office.”
