Latest Update – Phased reopening of our services

13th June 2020

We are living in difficult times in more ways than one but one of our strengths here at Wood Street is having the ability to adapt our work to suit the current need.  We are continuing to support families in most need with our Crisis Service and demand for this has been increasing, if you know a family who needs help then please do get in touch.

We have adapted our Books Forever project and have managed to distribute over 800 books and activity packs to children to help with learning at home.

On Monday we will be opening our SmartStart project to referrals for school uniform, to get ready for back to school in September. Families who are already registered with us will be able to download the order form for brand new school uniform. If you are not already registered with us then you can be referred to us for uniform by a professional who knows your family well.

We continue to work behind the scenes to get our regular Family Basics project up and running as soon as possible. We know you understand that we must ensure the safety of you our donors, our staff and the families we support.

We did have to cancel quite a lot of donation collections at the beginning of Lockdown so once we resume collections, we will be in touch with those people first.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us financially at an incredibly difficult time for our income. We continue to need your support in this way to provide services to families where it is needed the most.

We have also set up an Amazon wish list with a list of items we need help with for Family Basics, this includes baby blankets, single bedding sets, toiletries and children’s socks and underwear. At the moment we are only able to accept direct delivery of new items from retailers but we will be able to update you over the next week or so about second-hand items

Without you we can’t help the many families who are struggling at the moment and need support – thank you.

Thank you for your patience and hope you are staying well.
