BookBench Trail

BookBench Trail
We are delighted to be part of the Read Manchester BookBench trail. Our bench - decorated with literary characters which featured at our book clubs – will be on display at the Lowry Outlet in Salford over the summer. The bench was sponsored by one of our corporate supporters Carillion and painted by Stockport- based artist Lee Hartley. It is one of 58 benches shaped like open books on display at cultural venues throughout the city. The BookBench project is aimed at promoting reading and literacy in order to create a skilled, high performing workforce. Families can discover the benches with a special BookBench trail map available at local libraries. After the summer the bench will come back to our base in Wood Street and form part of a new reading corner in our Family Room.
