Information for Referrers
If you have identified a family who is in need please consider the following before completing a referral form and sending to us for help:
- Wood Street Mission helps children and where possible their parents or guardians. We cannot support single adults or families without children under 18 years of age. We can offer help to a family with children over 18 years old if they are disabled or are developmentally delayed.
- You must be able to confirm that the family is in need and are unable to provide these items for themselves. We will only accept referrals for families you work closely with and whose circumstances you can confirm requires our support.
- Families must live in either the Manchester or Salford area.
- You must complete the referral form and not hand it to the client for completion. When completed please ensure you sign and stamp the form for verification and then send it to us for action.
- At that point we will contact the family direct, advising them of their appointment unless you have indicated that you wish to collect parcels for the family on their behalf.
- Clothing appointments are offered from January until mid November.
- Christmas toy and food parcels are offered to families during December and a separate referral form is distributed in September to all agencies in the area for this Project.
- Once families are referred they can refer themselves for help with clothing and bedding every 6 months for the next 2 years, should they still require our help. Every 2 years we ask families to obtain a new up to date referral from their support worker, to confirm they are still in need of help. Families are advised when this is required.
- Our office is always available to answer any queries you may have or if you wish to check if we have a particular item in stock before you refer a family. Contact us
