Festive Archives

Wood Street Mission has been helping families at Christmas time since the 1870s and many older people have vivid memories of queuing up outside our historic building as a small child to receive a toy from Father Christmas.

This talk, by Manchester tour guide Suzanne Hindle, looks back through our archives highlighting Christmas activities and anecdotes over the years.

Did you know we used to organise a big breakfast for families on Christmas morning and a very well-known Coronation street star once fronted our Christmas Appeal?

The event on Wednesday 14 December includes a tour of our building - and visit to our community shop which will be stocked full of new toys, gifts and festive treats for families.

Free but booking is essential via Eventbrite. Mulled wine and refreshments are provided.
