Queues, Clogs & Redemption

We are holding a history exhibition Queues, Clogs and Redemption from 9 September to 9 October.

The exhibition will look at our work since mid-Victorian times from the days of "rescuing" street children in the nineteenth century, sending tens of thousands to the seaside in the twentieth through to running a city gym in the 1980s.  As well as a historical timeline, it will feature some fascinating artefacts and photographs from the past, and first hand accounts from former service users about their experience of poverty as a child and being helped by 'the Mission'.

The Exhibition is accompanied by a specially commissioned historic walk of central Manchester and launch of a one-off 'Wood Street' traditional bitter courtesy of Manchester brewery, Marble Brewery.

Queues, Clogs and Redemption is being held in our historic building in the centre of Manchester just off Deansgate at 26 Wood Street, M3 3EF and will be launched on Wednesday 9 September at 5.30. Places are FREE but you need to let us know you are coming. Book your place here

It will then be open on the following Fridays (10.00am - 4.30pm) and Wednesdays (10.00 am - 7.00pm) until Friday 9 October. There will be a tour of the building on both days at 11. Admission is FREE and there is no need to book.

The walks with tour guide Suzanne Hindle take place on Wednesday 9 September (route: Wood Street Mission off Deansgate to the Marble Arch pub in Ancoats) and Wednesday 16 September  (route is reversed). Tickets are £5 and include a drink of 'Wood Street' bitter at the end. The walks start at 6.30. Go to www.queuesclogsandredemption2015.eventbrite.co.uk to book a place.
