Helping Kids Fit in at School

Doing well at school is key to breaking the cycle of poverty.

However many families struggle to afford school uniform which means their children can be bullied in the playground and get into trouble for breaking school rules.

SmartStart is a unique initiative which aims to distribute one million pounds worth of school uniform  to local families – enough to give each of the 1 in 3 local children living below the

poverty line a school uniform.

You can help by donating any of the following school necessities to the project’s back-to-school appeal:

- Non-Branded New School Uniform for children aged 3-18 from any high street store. Polo shirts, shirts, trousers, skirts, jumpers and sweatshirts are all needed

- New School Sports Kit such as sports shorts, PE skirts, jogging bottoms, fleeces, sports bags, trainers and plimsolls

- Stationery like pencil cases, pens, folders, jotters, maths sets, calculators and dictionaries

- Useful Everyday Items every child needs e.g. School shoes, school bags, PE bags, lunch boxes, new underwear, new socks, hats and gloves

- Dressing Up Costumes – new and good quality second hand items suitable for dressing up days

Drop off donations to our central Manchester office at 26 Wood Street, Manchester M3 3EF or call 0161 834 3140 to book a collection from your home or office.

Please get your donations to us by Friday 11 August  so we can get them out to children in time for the new school year.
