Easter Appeal Helps Beat Holiday Hunger

Our Easter Appeal raised over 6 tonnes of food to help tackle holiday hunger over the Easter holidays.

The food was distributed to 900 local families during the week before Easter - alongside over 6000 chocolate eggs!

One in 5 families struggle to feed their children during holidays in the absence of free school meals and support from breakfast clubs, with some children returning to school noticeably thinner after breaks.

We give families a shopping bag of useful cupboard staples (cereal, fish, fruit, pasta) to help put food on the table and take pressure off family budgets.

The eggs are a bonus - but one without some children would not be able to participate in an important childhood event.

Parents tell us they skip meals during holidays to ensure their children eat, so the food is a great help. It also helps supplement diets with meat and fish which low income families cannot always afford.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated food, chocolate eggs or money to the Appeal.
